The legendary music venue, the newly refurbished Garage in Islington has once again opens its iconic doors to the vibrant London Music scene. Since opening in July The Garage has demonstrated a new, modern move to its music policy. The once old dark rock venue is now a modern and airy space with the most recent of digital designed sound and lights. The new and improved venue fulfills its potential as a space that can adapt to feel tailor-made for a huge range of events. With the option of free flow access between ‘Upstairs at The Garage’ and the main room, club events will be able to take over the entire space. A Brand new seated format option in both areas will mean that The Garage can become a destination not only for the rock shows it built its reputation on, but also acoustic events and comedy for audiences who can now sit back and enjoy the show in comfort. The mini bar also has potential as a space for a range of activities including private entertaining / VIP area as well as small scale, intimate experiences including literary events, cabaret, stand-up and up close music for a select crowd. Since opening in July everyone has been delighted to have put The Garage back on the map. The flexibility of the 3 room operation is unrivalled in any London venue of this size. Playing a show at The Garage became something of a right of passage. The venue became part of MAMA Group plc’s estate in August 2007 in the acquisition of Mean Fiddler Holdings (which also included the Jazz Café and Borderline). In January 2009 MAMA Group and HMV created a new joint venture Mean Fiddler Group under which HMV acquired 50% ownership of 11 of MAMA Group’s venues, namely The Garage, Jazz Café, Heaven, G-A-Y Bar, G-A-Y Late, The Borderline, Aberdeen’s Moshulu and the renamed: HMV Hammersmith Apollo, HMV Forum, HMV Picture House, Edinburgh and opening later this year the HMV Institute, Birmingham..
